Amanda and Corey | Wedding Photography | Seattle

I had a great time on Sunday shooting Amanda and Corey’s wedding. They were both great to work with, reminding me of why I love being a wedding photographer :) . Their ceremony and reception took place at the Edgewater Hotel, a slick venue just north of downtown Seattle. During the ceremony, the sun was setting creating what was simultaneously one of the most challenging and beautiful lighting situations I have had the pleasure of working in. It was a long night but in the end I found the results to be beautiful…

Wedding Planning Alert, Here’s a Seattle Resource….

I just wanted to alert brides to the upcoming Seattle Wedding Show, a great resource for wedding planning and six years running Seattle Bride magazine ‘Best of’ pick. You can find florists, caters, ministers, photographers, the whole works. (But if you’re reading this blog you already have your photographer right ;) ).

Wedding shows can be daunting, but they can also be a great way to look at lots of wedding vendors and find one that suits your needs best. Though I am always happy to give brides recommendations on wedding companies I have experience with and know do a great job, I know there are a range of people out there in the wedding industry, many of whom I have never even met personally. For that reason, going to a wedding show can be a great way to meet a wide range of professionals and find the right person for your wedding.

Certain types of wedding professionals, such as DJs, can be hard to evaluate online. The quality of their website and their ability to professionally interact with you via email may offer you some ideas as to how well they can perform at a wedding, but a personal connection is key to making a decision about these types of professionals.

In my industry, Seattle wedding photography, websites are more important. We work in a largely visual field, and viewing websites is a great way to evaluate whether a photographer’s ’style’ is right for you. (I like to point people towards complete weddings to show exactly what I do from start to finish.) Once you find a few photographers you like, however, a personal connection remains important. This is why a personal meeting remains important in selecting a photographer…which will be the subject of a future article.

Best of luck with all of your wedding planning. Let me know If I can be of assistance.

Sara and Dan | Wedding Photography | Tacoma

Sunday found me driving down from Seattle to the Tacoma area, Lakewood, to be exact. Sara and Dan held their wedding at Thornewood Castle, one of the nicer wedding venues in the Seattle area. I couldn’t help but take advantage of the amazing architecture for the wedding photos. The gardens were beautiful as well as the castle itself. Have a look:

Molleigh and Nick | Wedding Photography | Kirkland

I headed out to Kirkland for Molleigh and Nick’s wedding at Jardin del Sol, a nice little wedding venue over in Kirkland. The wedding was a blast. I especially liked the tent that was set up for dancing after dinner, the white surface made for a great reflector for my flash, resulting in some great shots. Onto the photography:

New posts will have to wait for me to redesign some Photoshop stuff to get my new look on here. also, look for me here: PhotoLinks - The Photography Network Thanks for the patience and I’ll see you back soon!

Lauren and John | Engagement Session | Seattle

Lauren and John are having their wedding in December, so we took advantage of the remining sunshine to take some engagment pictures. We first took a stroll around the Seattle center, getting some nice photographs. Next we headed down to Golden Gardens and caught the sunset. I’m looking forward to their wedding….
